Fransmargate, brilliant pics!

Would not change anything on the second but possibly just very, very slightly darken the first and saturate the colours a tiny bit but as is it is impressive

I've recently bought a sigma 150-500mm lens and been walking round the garden practising. Results have been variable but I'm quite pleased with this one. Any comments would be appreciated.

I've messed a little with it:

Very interesting time and date, we were at that same hide at around the same time. (on mobile now, will check my dates when I get home). I Actually took a few snaps and remember that bird on that dead tree well. Next visit I really must wear a yellow ribbon!

I find it too cropped. Also, the way it is cropped is disturbing in terms of the animals nose is cut off. The large dark area bottom left is also distracting.
Might be worth either cropping it super-tight just around the eye or moving back a bit and getting more of the animal in.

I prefer it, though you've chopped off its legs and ears. It might also be an idea to crop some of the background to the left out.

I think you were aiming to highlight the reflection in your earlier crop, which the original doesn't do (i.e. I understand the first crop you posted)
