Hi Guys,

Can anyone help me to id a snake? I have 2 pictures, but can not upload them. I can email them to anyone that can then upload them for me...
Short discription of the snake: Brown, whitish spots on the back, small black stripe by the eyes and under this black strip there is a orange stripe.....

It is difficult to be 100% sure on the photo but if I go by your discription of the stripes next to the eyes I would say that this is a young brown house snake.

Its a little red-lipped herald. You can see the characteristic black cheeks in the last photograph, The snake is also a little bit fatter than what a house snake of the same size would be.

Even though they are venomous, the venom has no effect on humans and the snakes are still COMPLETELY harmless!

I agree with BushSanke and Bobbi Jane - a Herald snake. Your Brown House snake does not have whitish spots on the back and also you would have seen a beige / cream stripe in a V shape from the tip of the nose running to the back of the head through the eye if it was a Brown House Snake. This is not visible in either of the photos.
