i need to add one more to my list making it 2, it is the heralds snake.

Snakes kept in captivity, Caught and released or seen in the wild :wink:

I've had a few encounters with snakes.... luckly. (Yes I do like them and even if I get bitten.. :roll: incase someone was wondering! :D )

My list goes as follows:
Mfezi (found in gorge near Brits)
Mole snake (Farm near Piet Retief)
Boomslang (Pongola)
Puffadder (Drakensberg 2x)
Spotted Bush snake .... I think (South Coast, It bit me so I'm excluding a Boomslang here!!! :whistle: )
Stiffneck on the loose.....
Latest Lifer:= Lesser Crested Tern; Rufous Winged Cisticola.

Spotted bush snake x10+ (in garden while living on KZN South coast)
Black mamba x2 (Ellisras & Mtubatuba)
Boomslang (Mtubatuba)
Mole snake (South coast)
Puff adder (Drakensberg)
Red lipped Herald (South coast)
Gaboen adder (Mtunzini)
Brown house snakes x3 (RichardsBay)
..then quite a few unidentified, fast ones!

Blind snake (Western Australia)
Carpet Python (Western Australia)
Dugite (Western Australia)
KRUGER TRIP 2013

2/12 - 5/12 Skukuza

well my little list (not in SANParks, though):

african rock python
southern stripe-bellied sand snake
mozambique spitting cobra
egyptian cobra

there was another one which I´m not sure at the moment - think it was a burrowing adder (have to look it up again)


in KNP:
a dead african rock python
unidentified snake hanging in the claws of a brown sanke eagle

My list is much shorter than i'd like, but then i've only been in Africa for a year. I hope to make it much, much longer :)

Cape Cobra (lots of them KTP & West Coast NP)
Boomslang (Hottentots Holland NR)
Puff Adder (West Coast & KTP)
Mole Snake (lots of juvenilles in KTP)
Bi-Coloured Quill Snouted Snake (KTP)
Kalahari Sand Snake (KTP)
Red Lipped Snake (NW Province)
Long Tailed Worm Snake (Okavango Delta)

Ive seen:

1) Cape cobra (road kill on way 2 ysterfontein west coast)
2) Brown house snake (caught near wemmer's hoek dam during church camp)
3) common slug eaters (dam in bellville
4) aurora house snake (at dam in bellville)
5) striped skaapsteker (near garies Northern Cape)
6) spotted skaapsteker (road kill at 4x4 challenge in fisantekraal)
7) thread snakes (kruger park)
8) dwarf beaked snake (brackenfell)
9) brown water snake (table mountian and next 2 the kuils river)
10) spotted bush snake (kruger park)
11) blind snake (table mountian)
12) some black cobra (gifberg, near van rhynsdorp)
13) harald's snake (kruger park)
14) mole snake (west coast road)
15) karoo sand snake (near ysterfontein)
16) other sand or whip snake unsure of which type (near graaffreinet)
17) puff adder (khalagadi)
18) stripe bellied sand snake (kruger park)
19) other thread snake (kruger)
20) boomslang (kirstenbosch gardens)

I think that is all i have seen up 2 now
