Forum rules, help please.

Unread postby picnic » Fri Oct 05, 2012 10:42 am

15. No forum member may request donations or start projects or groups on behalf of the SANParks Forums or SANParks. If you would like to raise or donate funds please make use of the E-Commerce facility on the site or work through a legitimate SANParks endorsed fund raising body such as the Honorary Rangers, who are a registered Public Benefit Organisation.

16. You may not sell, promote, or distribute products or services online (including business and non-profit), nor via PM. All initiatives need to be directed to the Virtual Honorary Rangers (VHR@SANParks.org) - the only legally recognized body to conduct such projects on the SANParks Forums.

Can anyone explain please, what does this mean and why are this a forum rule and who are excluded from this?

Nobody is excluded. Nobody is allowed to raise funds and say to the public that they represent SANParks or SANParks forum. You often see people standing at shopping malls collecting money for, what it appears to be, SANParks . They normally have khaki clothes on and wear some obscure epaulette. I can't positively confirm, but I think they collect the money for themselves.

I would love to confront one of them and ask a couple of questions about SANParks.

Picnic, I'm sure one of the Mods, or another knowledgeable person, will explain things better than me,
However until they do............here goes!!

When money is involved, things have to be done officially, otherwise things can come back and "bite you in the behind"!!!

Any funds raised for SANparks on these forums, can only be done via the Virtual Honorary Rangers...........those are the rules.

If anyone has a fund raising idea, they just need to contact a member of the VHRs, to discuss, and see if it's feasible, and if it is, how to go about it.

Picnic, via any SANParks facebook pages or the forums, as the rules stand now, that is the only way.

If you read here, where a similar question has been asked, we are waiting to hear back from SANParks. So lets give them time to get back to us on that one. link.

Picnic, the HRs are recognised by SANParks as a fund raising body for the organization. There are enough regions to cover all of SANParks, and they will all be more than willing to assist anyone wishing to donate. The SANParks HR NEC have worked very hard together with SANParks to put into place all the correct procedures and checks and balances that meet with SANParks' approval.

I do think that anyone who makes donations to SANParks, or SANParks staff and do not work via the HRs just need to ensure that in their good intentions they are not actually causing harm for those they are trying to help. They really need to be sure that they way they are doing it meets with SANParks' regulations. A good example is the link in the post I linked to.

But lets hear from SANParks on all of this. In the meantime, the bottom line is the forum rules are clear, they have been so for years.
