We have just returned from Kruger and we had a lovely time.

Unfortunately it was sad to see Nkuhlu Picnic Area in such state. There were plastic bags and bottles lying everywhere, even in the river.

I realize that it was a busy time, but we were there early in the morning.

It was noticed that there is only one rubish disposal on the top terrace. Can we suggest that the look into supplying additional bins for the 2nd & 3rd terrace, that way people might clean up after themselves.

But they have a real monkey problem
The vervets rule the place and if visitors do not guard their food and clear the table these "thieves" collect many leftovers , including plastic bottles and such.
Been there many times and seen the monkeys run around and into the trees with their bounty.

My view on this topic is that some basic things could make a huge difference.

The ablution blocks from memory are cleaned by staff on a regular during the day, but then over night the baboons and monkey play games. I’ve often been one of the first visitors to stop in early on and then find the toilette rolls all over the place and the windows wide open. Firstly the windows needs to locked (permanently would suit me fine). Rather a very hot toilet area than one that looks like a tip and is filed with mosquitoes. Secondly a door system that is baboon and monkey proof is needed. Maybe a door lock with a code on it, the code could be printed on the wall and could be the same between both sets of bathroom.

I can imagine the poor staff cleaning up after these bandits every day and then to return to a tip site the next morning.

Some maintenance would surely repair the ‘baboon proof’ rubbish bins. They will try they damndest and are strong animals. New bins the same as the bear proof bins they have in the North America might help.

As a last resort I’ve heard that to leave food laced with lots of chilli powder or curry powder in some rice, has been used to make monkeys and baboons think that food at the spots the visit is bad for them. I’ve not tried this myself, but I’d be very tempted too if I was the person having to clean up after them all the time.
