I could not find this topic this morning. Can anyone tell me what the road conditions are especially at the "road works" section after the rains. I want to travel this road to Phalaborwa gate in the early hours of saturday. When i travelled this road last year november they were still far from finishing.

Alf - the R71 is apparently still not finished and those roadworks between Moria and Haenertsburg are still ongoing! Not sure what happened during the recent rains as the info comes from our neighbours who travelled that road end of December.

Hi Alf My family lives up that way and we've been driving that road since 94 it doesn't matter how much road works are done to that road that is one of the most dangerous roads to travel in South Africa, My mom told me about the heavy rains in Tzaneen and they have a lot of damage to their own roads that road won't be much better I can assure you, My advice to you is if you are going to travel that road now or any other point do so in broad day light its your safest option for your vehicle and your familys safety

Stop and go's are still there, roads are fine even after all the rain, the stop and go's are the only hindrance.
