I know it is possible to downgrade an existing reservation within the same camp (and maybe even within the same park) but is also possible to downgrade between different parks? We do have bookings for numerous camps in KTP for March and April 2013. Our final night was meant to be spent at Twee Rivieren. However, I would now prefer to leave KTP one day earlier and instead spend two nights in Mokala. Technically, the night at TR would be exchanged with a (cheaper) night at Mokala. Is that possible? Or would I have to pay the entire cancellation fee (I believe 30% at this stage)?

thanks

Ice, on a couple of occasions I have been allowed to change Parks. It could be that you will have to have a different reservation, but might be able to transfer credits. This is what I did when I couldn't make my KTP trip.

It is still a long time to go until your planned trip, so it might well be that there should be no problem.

that's an encouraging answer - did you make your changes over the phone or via mail correspondence?

I did it over the phone, Ice. I found them very helpful.

On what do you base your belief that a 30% cancellation fee for March/April 2013 accommodation is applicable? AFAIK only cancellations in the last 30 days result in cancellation fees.
From the online booking t&c:
Quote:
Cancelling a reservation made here could result in cancellation fees. These are calculated on the total value of the reservation that was cancelled. Cancelling:

6 days or less prior to arrival (or not arriving at all) will result in a 100% cancellation fee
7 to 14 days before arrival will result in a 50% cancellation fee
15 to 30 days before arrival will result in a 25% cancellation fee.

ice - I think your question has been answered, but here is my 2c worth.

I had a booking for 12 nights in KTP in September 2013 and had paid the required deposit (just over R3 000). I then decided to cancel that trip and do a trip through 4 Parks in the Northern and Eastern Cape. I duly did the booking and then had to phone SANParks Head Office to re-allocate the deposit paid to the now 4 separate bookings. Before phoning, I did some arithmetic and worked out how to split the R3 000+ between the 4 new bookings. I spoke to a charming lady in Pretoria and she very quickly re-allocated the deposit and immediately sent me e-mail confirmation. Easy as that!!
