Gee. I take my whole first aid kit on holiday with me, where ever I go actually, (Even Work!).
Besides anthisan cream, i also take with me Allergix antihistamine tablets, extremely cheap at a chemist. I have them in my pocket or handbag, that if something bites me i don't have to b a idiot and R....U....N... back to the car and get stuff. Pop 1 or two tablets and carry on having lunch. But beware, it can cause the urge to catch some Zzz

.

I had just built up my personal F.A kit for holidays and F.A duties. we were on holiday at letaba just after my dad died. Everything was cool, the braai was lekker, the whole family was enjoying the whole 'event' until i back stepped on to the gas light.
Big Ouch! 2nd degree burn to on the back of my right arm. I don't want the burn shield dressing (I hate them) so i found some burn cream and just kept the burn moist and it healed quite nicely mind you. Just have a little scar.
My dad had a few pointers:
My father always believed in having at least two (ironed) handkerchiefs in ones pocket and a 'checkers' shopping packet. The Handkerchiefs: One for your personal use (With whatever

) and the other you can use in emergencies. Because it is ironed, the 'inside' of one is pretty sterile, so if you have cut yourself or something to that effect, you have a dressing.
The 'Checkers' shopping packet is another story. Dad had one in his pocket, normally to hold his lunch whilst at work, and can use at a glove too. but anyway back to the story...
We went on holiday to the Kruger with friends who had bought a brand new car. And the mother was very watchful about this car. no dirty shoes, food etc.... Now unfortunately for us ladys, nature calls to us once a month and unfortunately it was the daughters turn, unprepared. So dad saved the day with is plastic bag on the car seat until we got to the nearest camp.
So I'm always prepared... i think...
Check out this month's Go! Mag, there is stuff on first aid and improvisation.
