Silent Auction - Cricket 2014

Unread postby ecojunkie » Mon Jan 27, 2014 3:43 pm

Bet you all thought it was not going to happen this year!

We will still have a Silent Auction, but this year it will be more low-key. We want small things that most folk (even local folk) could afford. It seems folk do not come to Cricket with lots of cash in their pockets, and even good and expensive items often go cheaply.

So bring goodies you no longer want or need but are in good saleable condition, or donate some small things.

If you are not coming to Cricket but still want to take part, please look through the list of 'mites attending and find somebody from your area who might be willing to bid for you and bring items back for you and arrange with them via pm. Chirinda will help me, and we will not bid or buy for anyone else as that is not fair and too complicated anyway.

I am going to be away until 25th February now, and out of contact most of the time, so Chirinda will keep the flag flying and with DB's help try to answer any questions you have.

Have you read the entrance permit? Do you KNOW the Conditions of Entry?

Completed over 6 years in Kruger in my caravan.

I have three Tsitsikama books: Fishes of the Tsitsikama Coastal National Park by the JLB Smiths; Tsitsikama Shore by Tietz and Robinson; and The Flowering Plants of the Tsitsikama Forest and Coastal National Park by M Courtenay-Latimer, GG Smith, H Bokelmann and A Batten. All National Parks Board publications.

I also have a copy of Field Guide to the Wild Flowers of the Witwatersrand and Pretoria region by van Wyk and Malan.

All second hand but in good condition.

EJ is away on the high seas at the moment, a couple of days out of Fremantle/Perth. The weather looks good on the ship's webcam, but she will be hoping that everyone coming to the cricket will be gathering a few items together to put on the Silent Auction.

Please don't disappoint her.

The Silent Auction was rather low-key this year, but we still raised R1076. Thanks to all who contributed (donors and bidders).

Chirinda had made a very cute knitted elephant, and we auctioned it in the evening rather than on the SA, and it made R500! My new cricket 'bat' was also auctioned off and raised R2000!!! All involved in the fun match had signed it too.

I think the Silent Auction has run its course. Or maybe just me and the Silent Auction........ I do not intend to run it next year. Perhaps somebody else can pick it up and inject new life, or maybe somebody has another idea?????
