We'll be there too, Scouter and I'm really looking forward to meeting and putting faces to all the mites who I only know through their posts.
We'll be in the park from the 4th of March

The guys that played in previous years would love to come and teach KTP a cricket lesson but they are bitterly disappointed not to be able to go.

Anyone that misses this cricket weekend after having done 5 or 6 of them will be disappointed. It is purely a question of logistics and financial capabilities. For most of us it is like a HUGE outing where we get our asses kicked by Skukuza...

We were of the full intention of giving that mantle to KTP.

I have moved mountains to try and get a sponsor to get Skukuza team and the "Northern forum team" up there but it just isn't working.

I have been there 6 years running now. Very few of the forumites have been to all the cricket weekends but it is a highlight of my year and yes I am literally heart broken because I can not be there. Envious - Hell Yes.

I know it will be incredible. It always is.

its a SANParks event too and in line with SANParks's Vision : Connecting to Society .... and I quote ...
"For poor rural communities, SANParks is engaged in the implementation of programmes promoting access and benefit sharing, socio-economic development and improved living conditions for local communities adjacent to national parks"

What does it mean exactly, that the communties will benefit from this cricket event?

Toko - hopefully KG will be able to give you all the info on exactly what the community will be doing at the cricket but I can tell you that they are building a cricket pitch specially for the cricket in Welkom, a local community about 10km outside of the park - and this will be the communities pitch ...

Does that help a bit ? Am sure KG will step in here too and let you know more details ... Maybe Dinky Bird too ? Thanks !

SANParks have instituted new systems that the HRs and SANParks (the different parks) have to work through with regard to any projects. So as soon as we have all the I's dotted and T's crossed, we will give more info on the 'project' the 'cricket' will support.

But there is a pitch being built from scratch at the school to host the cricket event - and the school is going to benefit hugely from this, as they will be left with it afterwards, forever and always. There will be a media release on how this has been achieved etc closer to the time

Please check the list and confirm here if you are still going to attend the cricket. If your name is not on the list, please add, we need numbers for the catering, etc.
