Help needed @ Cricket 2010

Unread postby Bigman » Tue Jan 26, 2010 9:45 pm

Scorekeepers.

Last year we relied almost entirely on RobertT's son to do the scoring. He worked really hard and did a great job. The problem is that he was snowed under and couldn't really take a break.

This year we would like to spread this load a bit. Could any of the attendees willing to assist in the scoring effort, even for a short time, please let me know here or by PM.

Ideally there should be two scorers per team, (with backups for breaks etc.) and the only requirement is a fair knowledge of the rules.

Water-runners.

Last year our boys suffered greatly from dehydration (probably the girls too). I would like to suggest that we appoint water-bearers to run on the field between overs (not quite in the rules, but I think excusable) to pass drinks to our fielders. Any volunteers? Like the scorers, it does not have to be for the whole day. Please let me know here or by PM.

i'll ask SO to to the water thing i really doubt her cricket/maths skills

i hope to field near to the stands this year as last year it was quite a problem having my beer brought the the distant side of the field, it was warm by the time it got there, and it was delivered on too few occasions would it be possible to take a cooler and keep it on the field with me??

Not sure if my son will be there this year. He is trying to tell me that he has other commitments (namely school and work). He may not make it.

Eish, I can score (yes  ) and have done it often, but suffer a huge deficiency; I tend to chat and therefore get distracted.

Once I was scoring for my son's team against a real prim and proper boy's school. At the end of the match, the 'other' mother marched over to me to check my scoring, ball by ball, run by run ... because we were 1 run out  :slap:

I chatted for that split second

I will not be able to play for the angels team this year. No, not because the "northern devils" have banned me for bad language

I scored a couple of years ago and am willing to help out. The year I scored, I also ended up alone and it is an almost impossible task. I would ask for someone to assist me, even if they are cricket novices. I will guide them through the process.

DB, maybe we might be a distasterous team together, but we could be very innovative
