Thanks to everyone... but really between the both of us (me and Bosnimf) we had no issues adding the extra bucks... and some of the additional costs was afterall because of our idea to laminate posters etc etc.

Maybe you can keep that money for a next effort  or donate to Satara cam

Thanks again, i think between all of us it was a fantastic effort!

Part of an sms received this morning from Katydownunder:

We have been to Pafuri. Oh what a great place Met Frank. Awesome guy. Impressive what he knows about the birds. We had our own private bird walk with him all around the whole picnic site. Most of the bird's names I had already forgottoen shortly after he mentioned them. He is wearing very proudly his binocs with the yr.

Last Thursday I met Frank at Pafuri. Again we were given a very warm welcome by Frank. He has such a wonderful warm manner and his enthusiasm for birding knows no bounds. It seems each and every visitor to the picnic area receives a greeting from Frank.

I asked him to please pose for a pic for me to post on the forum. Look carefully at the pic. With him is his son, he is wearing his yellow ribbon and the binocs donated by the forum.... and a very special badge. Congrats Frank!! Well done indeed.

From earlier in this topic:
francoisd wrote:It was also mentioned that Frank apparantley asked to go on a Bird guide course of Birdlife SA. Below 2 messages on this topic:
First message:
Whist up there early in January this year, Frank said that he had applied through the Parks Board Management to be “officially trained" through BirdLife SA at Wakkerstroom. Does anyone know if this happened, as it would certainly add to the recognition and status Frank deserves?

Mel Tripp

Second message from the Wakkerstroom centre that does the training:
Dear Mel & others
No Frank has not been trained by BirdLife as yet. Having met him I would love to have him on a course and if anyone has any influence perhaps they could convince SAN Parks to send him on the next course in September?
Regards
Nigel

It is really great to see that earlier this year Frank did attend the course.

I met Abel Baloyi at Letaba Petrol station and he was pointing out all the birds, I asked him if he knew Frank from Pafuri and it turns out that they are brothers-in-law.
Abel would love to do birding and has Frank's old bird book but no binoculars, I said I would try to make a plan
Anyone willing to help?
