Taking Cricket 2010 to new heights - 12/13 March 2010

Unread postby DinkyBird » Tue Mar 31, 2009 8:52 pm

During the last Cricket@Skukuza weekend, an idea for a new forum initiative was born.

Cricket@Skukuza is one of the two main annual events at the Skukuza sports ground. And this year, Frikkie had invited a couple of SA cricketers to join in the weekend, but they could not attend due to their match commitments.

Time to make Cricket@Skukuza an even bigger event!

Not only do we hope to have a record number of forumites attend Cricket 2010, but to also include some activities for disadvantaged children.

These would be in the form of a cricket coaching clinic, a couple of game drives and a few lessons on the www and how to take part on the forums.

We are hoping that some well known cricketers will be able to attend and run the clinic while the other matches are being played.

And would it not be wonderful to share the forum and our love for Kruger with these children at the same time!

Jannie (Jan Kriel) and Baffers are presently investigating how to bring the children to the park and the funding thereof.

We invite you all to become involved in making this happen!

This is awesome news! Surely this can only become the biggest event on the calendar, not only will SANParks benefit from it, but more importantly , the disadvantaged children.

Thank you for the wonderful initiative :D
You can count me in immediately. 8)

Of course, if there is any need for coaching in terms of wicket keeping, I am 100% available. I will even bring last year's eyes.

DD!! :naughty: How can you think that! We will never mess with such a winning formula. Of course the forum members participation is what it is all about! And no way are you not going to be there btw :P So go book right now. Booking is open today for March 2010. Oops! We need to confirm dates first hey :|

this sounds awesome, are you looking at only disadvantaged kids or also kids from eg. reach for a dream.

I'm sure there would be kids that would love to see a lion, etc. in the wild.

What an awesome idea. As long as none of these International superstars take my place in the cricket team :D .

But yeah, awesome idea. Put my name down to help out, not sure how, but I am sure there are several options.
September, it's going to be epic.......

Very good news, cricket being my passion.

How about a match for over 60’s only, 10 overs a side

All players to bowl one over, no batter to bat more than one over, out or not. No run-up more than 25 paces. Boys and girls mixed.

Could be fun

Cricket is my passion and I would appeciate being involved, from coaching to umpiring to carrying the beers when the ump calls for drinks.

All part of an angel's mystery

I have asked Frikkie about a date, and he is going to let me know as soon as they have finalised their fixture list.
