Great ideas all of you.

Considering that some of us, lucky ones!, will be visiting SA/KNP in the very near future I'd love to start putting wildlife at the base of fund raising.

Why not give a value to, lets say the top 10-12 species, each sighting and increase the value according to the kind of sighting.
Example: male lion = value 5 rand donation
male lion on a kill = value 8 rand donation
leopard with cubs = value 20 rand donation
this is just an example of the values and can be given to each species and values increase according to the species, I'd say seeing a pangolin or brown hyena in KNP would have a higher value than lion leopard or cheetah, and situation they are spotted.

I will actually be doing something of the sort with my 7 year old son, the total value will be kept for his very special xmas present, and we already have a book ready for the sightings.

Just an idea but could make it interesting for those travelling soon.

@prings: I'll be in Olifants 9, 10, 11 September. Would be keen to meet up and have a beer etc. I like the fund raising idea.

Just a quick note to advise that we have not forgotton why we started this topic. Should have the numbers of forumites that we met, tallied up in the next 2 days. Then we can announce the amount that we will donate

Well i have done the maths. We met 85 forumites(some on a number of occassions, but only the first time counts) during our trip. This includes a couple of forumites who we would not cross paths with, but are an honorable mention. Also 1 who took part via phone at the Gauteng meet, and one who was prevented from attending the meet, thanks to a criminal act against them  . This number multiplied by R20 each, equates to a total of R1700.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to what cause we should donate this to. :hmz: :hmz:
we do
