Just done my pledge as well, :D
I also already do most of the things mentioned and can honestly say I drive my family nutz with my recycling, whipping things out their hands and have been known to even "rescue" things from the bin at times.
I think if everyone did just a little bit it would make an incredible difference.

Afternoon Everybody!

Yes like you guys, recycle paper - that's the easy one as it is picked up at the door by Ronnie Recycle. Glass bottles - take to the bottle bank every two weeks. Basically use fresh or frozen veg so not too many tins used in our household. Have been naughty with plastic cool drink bottles though

So this one is for me ... take to Delta Park to be recycled there. Huge bins there, so if you live in the Johannesburg area around Blairgowrie - that's the place to go. Also pile the dogs in the car as they can have a run around at the same time! Then you don't feel you are wasting petrol!

Second saving - paper Must remember not to hit print on those emails that have been replied, and replied and replied... end up with 10 pages instead of the recent correspondence. So what happens to the other 9 - OK Ronnie Recycle gets them but what a waste of ink too.

Keep the ideas rolling in!
Cheers
Jackie

Right......done it!
1. To take my own shopping bags with me to the store instead of buying plastic ones.
2. To run the generator for no longer that 2 hours every time we are eskomed........this one is going to be real tough!!

I have pledged!

I am married to a very 'green' aware man, so we do a fair bit here; separate the glass out the garbage, all kitchen waste goes onto the compost, all electrical gadgets are switched right off and not left on standby mode, reuse our shopping bags, energy saving light bulbs, try not to waste any water, don't use poisons or artificial fertilizers. Today I pledged to only buy eco friendly detergents for use in my home from now on.

Does Sanparks send all the beverage cans and bottles left by visitors to recycling plants ?

Would it help to have big collection bins in the camps ?

Ever felt how hot the DSTV decoder gets, and also the ADSL modem transformer. Even an electric tootpaste charger stays quite warm if left on.
