If it helps you CC, this is what happened when I had a customer a month or three ago, enquiring where they can have a look at the brick they bought:

I phoned the office and spoke to a lady and asked where they can hav a look. She wanted to know who they are, and where I fit into the picture. I politely said that its got nothing to do where I fit in, the fact is that the people who paid money, wants to have a look. I was asked their surname. Told her why, because anybody, wheter they bough one or not are surely allowed a peek>
She said no surname, no info.
I then phoned the other office, which I think is the one at Phabeni gate, and was told I should make an appointment to have a look at the bridge, but should work throough Skz office to make one. I am not sure if the folk have seen their brick or not, but MAOA is in my eyes, just a scam, and was doomed since its inception, as per Carte Blance

If there is so much secrecy when a person want to see how your money was spent, stay away

I agree that until they become more accommodating and more "PR" savvy, things should be put on hold. We went through this same dilemma awhile back, and I am truly suspicious of what happened to this program. Perhaps bad publicity will shake things up.

That being said, we saw our brick when we were there in 2008. The walkway was impressive, although the arrangements for getting one to the site were chaotic. All seemed well, as we set this up WAY before our visit, being from the U.S. Upon arrival at the designated meeting spot for our driver, there seemed to be some confusion, and finally a driver showed up who was "irritated", to put it mildly.

He did not speak a single word to us the entire trip to the walkway site. We thought perhaps he didn't speak English, but did refer to him as "Mr. Personality" quietly, in a tongue in cheek manner between ourselves, due to his hostile nature. We saw our brick, were enthusiastic about it with the people there, and slowly but surely, he warmed up to us. We had a very pleasant drive back, he spoke perfect English, and we figured all's well that ends well.

We would have bought bricks for our grandkids, etc., but have held off because of our concerns. Is this whole thing a scam, or just poorly managed?

I will attempt to contact the people I dealt with when we bought the bricks and see if I can obtain any info for you guys. It might take a while as most of SA is closing down now for the holiday period.

I did see an advert for My Acre on tv a short while ago.

Sorry for the late repy, please contact me on bryn@myacreofafrica.org and I will be able to help you with any viewing of bricks and information you may require.
Loudrick 0720153895 is on duty at the Phabeni gate and is able to take you to see your bricks, it does not matter who you are as long as we have your name and you have signed in at the gate. We are inside the park and therefore need to adhear to the Kruger regulations. More of a saftey issue than anything else. The progress since last year has been great and our website has just been upgraded to show you what we have been doing. I can be contacted on 0825750748 anytime and would be delighted to help with any unanswered questions. Our offices close on Friday 18th Dec and open on the 4th of Jan, if anyone wants to see their brick during this time it can be arranged by appointment. I would like to follow up on all the complaints and make sure that we deliver good service to our supporters.
Green regards
Bryn
