Hi all,

Image

After careful consideration we have decided to try and raise funds for a new webcam. The SANParks site is a tremendous source of information and fun. The cams is one of the biggest attractions to the site and both SANParks and the forum members will benefit from trying to raise the funds for the new webcam.

Seeing as this is the new year and knowing how the forumites really come together for such occasions, we thought it well to try and raise some funds for the "Nossob Cam" which will be situated in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, whiles enjoying the fun and excitement of the cricket weekend.

This cam will bring "new" animals to the forum not seen on the Kruger National Park Cams, such as the Gemsbok, Springbok and Suricate.

The amount we will try to raise for this new cam will be R20 000, and it will be well worth it.

The proposed Nossob Cam lies in the dramatic beauty of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier park is the stunning backdrop to herds of gemsbok, springbok, eland and Blue wildebeest, and huge black-maned lions, leopard, hyaena, cheetah, and many raptors...The red sand dunes, sparse vegetation and the dry riverbeds of the Nossob and Auob show antelope and predator species off to spectacular advantage and provide excellent sighting opportunities.
The camera will overlook the Nossob Camp waterhole, thus negating any serious environmental intrusion from a cam. As the area is so dry, the waterhole is a focal point for the area’s wildlife. It is believed that positioning a web cam here will be very rewarding and give people insight into an alternative South African habitat to Kruger’s bushveld.

While we know it's the new year (meaning still recovering from Decembers spending), we would like plead with the forum members to look deep into their hearts and pockets for any contribution you can make to the "Nossob Webcam" . As always, donations are voluntary and you can remain anonymous if you wish so. Donations only needs to be made after the cricket weekend ( ...unless you want to make donations in the interim as well  )

This is the 1st fund raising for the year, and we want so show everyone that the forum is not just a place to chat but also a very important voluntary resource for wildlife conservation and fund raisings.

Having said all that ... I would like to open the donations by pledging 20c for each run scored during the cricket weekend with a minimum contribution of R200,00.
So having said all this and making a pledge, I urge anybody out there to make your pledge towards the "Nossob Webcam".

Any businesses who would like to get involved in this initiative, to raise funds to provide these important virtual windows into our Parks, are also more then welcome to donate. If you would like to have more information you are more then welcome to e-mail Dianne Tipping-Woods on diannet@sanparks.org

If the forum team wins: R200
If the Angel team wins; R400
(a bonus of R20 per mini skirt per angel)
If either forum or angel wont win R200 for the looser

That sounds about right. The Muskateer team will be polite, and end up with only a few hundred runs more than the Angels. The KTP and KNP teams will cost me more I think...

Bert, the poor musketeers! They will feel so left out. Don't worry guys, I'll pay R25 for any of you wearing a mini skirt. ;-)

To all the musketeers.

Gwen offered R25.00 per musketeer wearing a mini skirt. Lets take her on, the only difference is that we will wear long pants underneath the mini skirt. Walla, and we get a contribution of R550.00 per game. ( 11 a side = 22 musketeers per game.)

Maybe we should ask the spectators to do the same? Are you on Gwen?

I suggest you specify which game you want to bet on.

In the mixed teams' game.

I will donate R1 for every catch taken(the rules at this stage is as with action cricket, so dismissals may be aplenty).
I will donate R5 for every chinese cut.
Every boundary hit by an Angel will cost me R2.
I will donate R20 for every catch taken in the crowd.
I will donate R20 if a wicket goes down on Nelson.

In the Forum boyz vs. Kruger boyz' game

I will never match fix, so I can't bet.

I pledge the same as W@H: 20c a run, with a minimum contribution of R200.

Are the donations going to set up the cam so we can see the cricket or is it going to the Cybertracker Program in general. In any case i would like to pledge $50.00 Canadian

Great idea with the cricket guys. Won't be able to make it due to work but will have to put some money down on this one.

100 bucks on the Forum team to beat the KNP guys.

20 bucks for every six hit in the forum vs forum game (Min R100)

50 bucks for every catch an angel takes to dismiss a batsman/woman in the forum vs forum game (Min R100)

That's it. Now go out there and give it horns people.

Enjoy everyone

(Just read the other cricket thread - bit confused about the games that are gonna take place but will leave my bet as it is till the final programme comes out - will then adjust accordingly)

As WTM reminded us.
No Angel or Musketeer teams

Must make my bets all over again :?
After a restless night thinking over all my options i came to this conclusion:
R10 for every six
R10 for every mini skirts worn during the lenght of one day.
(dont trust you WTM. You would force every angel to wear 10 different skirts during the day.)

If my galant offer wont be met by those trying to hit a few balls in the bush my minimum bet will R300.

O.k. just read the official release on what's happening on the day so I can finalise my bets now (Must say I'm jealous as hell that I can't be there  )

Here goes:

1) R100 on the forum team beating the KNP guys.

2) Another R100 on the forum guys going all the way and bringing the trophy home.

3) R20 for every 6 any forumite hits during the day

4) R50 for every catch an angel takes to dismiss someone in their game

Since I won't be there I'm not going to bet any money on any mini skirts but seems Wildtuinman & Bert know something I don't so any pics will be welcome

Good luck everyone. Enjoy and make us proud
