Thanks Mouse.......I do try and keep my forum droppings polished

. I am going to try and attend the mixed heard at Rietvlei, but just need to check with the ranger(ess) that tends to my burrow and whether I have any other calls of the wild that need to be taken care of on that day.
WendyA........I've come across something quite incidental, but perhaps worth considering. Birdlife Northern Gauteng will be having an outing (07:00am) at Rooiwal Sewage Works on the same morning (21 April 2012). I have emailed the trip leader and asked if it would be possible for a few forumites to join in and all seems fine, provided they display impeccable forumite etiquette. Although I am not yet 100% sure if I can make the Rietvlei Braai, if I get the all-clear on my side I am keen to make it a double......meaning some birding with the club at Rooiwal (07:00 am)........then perhaps a muffin on the way through to Rietvlei......and then the Rietvlei mixed heard. Perhaps best to let me know if there are any well-behaved forumites that would like to go birding at Rooiwal before the braai
This copied from the Rooiwal outing announcement:
"Rooiwal Water Care Works is a little birding treasure, one can observe a good variety of birds close to Pretoria. Don’t let the “organic odour” worry you. We’ll walk along the ageing dams. Many water birds can be seen (a variety of ducks, such as Knob-billed Duck, grebes, teals), geese, but also waders (sandpipers, such as Wood-, Marsh-, Green Sandpipers, plovers such as Wattled Lapwing, Ruff), herons, Greenshank, Greyheaded Gull, from Stonechats to specials like Yellow Wagtail (summer), Amur Falcon and Northern Black Korhaan. Please note: NO CAMERAS AND NO PHOTOS.
What to bring: good walking shoes/tackies, hat, sunscreen, binoculars and bird book, spotting scope (if you have), breakfast sandwiches and coffee, a stool/chair."
