I am sure this will be a very special meet indeed for all those lucky enough to attend and I am just sorry we can't be there, maybe another time.
As for the special guests... think I might have an inkling but won't spoil the surprise!

Elsa, I am looking forward to seeing my special guests. I know that a certain guest would love to see some forum faces from the G'teng area.

I took this photo before my went onto the unknown yonder. I thought at the time, "I am so looking forward to Spring, when the birds start nesting again". I can now see how so many birds at my bird feeder are turning into little yellow jobs that will soon be rebuilding.

A couple of days ago I saw an African Sacred Ibis close to this spot on my late afternoon walk with the dogs.

MM, I've just realised that 10, 11 September is the first weekend of the Rugby World Cup. The Bokke play their first game at 10h30 on Sunday morning

Dave and Jan, it will be on Sunday the 11th, that is next week. I believe it is the same day as the rugby. I am suggesting that folk maybe get here early and watch the rugby (if they wish) after a bird walk.

Perhaps if people bring a picnic brunch/lunch, it would be great.

Hugh is only here for a couple of days and would love to meet some mites.

Last time I had people visit from the forum they were confused at this gate. Yes, you do have to go through.



Because of the rugby and because people each have their own commitments, I am making it an open day. Come when you want. I am going to supply some goodies from Maggies farm, just bring a plate of something to add to the fare. I will supply tea and coffee, but if mites want something a little more "spirit"-ual, please bring it with.

Just remember this bridge, if you are going to have a little something celebratory. It has no sides.

look carefully. This is where I saw my Moorhen, also various kinds of ducks and a Darter.

There was an item on the BBC news yesterday about a 2 million year old skeleton found in the park (years ago) that they have done more research on and they now think it is the oldest human ever found and that it has moved thinking back to humans now evolving in South Africa rather in East Africa.

They had some lovely shots of the park, it looks like paradise. Hope you enjoy your day.
