Okay I am back!! This time infront of Computer!!

I must say today I was "dead" after a busy week and weekend!! I had to rest!

Thanks for everybody that came to the meet! But special thanks to Pantera leo for starting this meet! It was nice meeting you. I am so glad you could make it after all!

Yes the day started at 17:30. Betelgeuse and myself, headed to the buff, it started with the fish eagles calling. We had wonderful bird sightings including Grass bird, macoa duck, black duck, etc. Then it was off to the lions! We all met at 11:00 at the picnic area. The weather was not spring weather.... but who worries??

16:00 we met at the lapa and 18:00, 2 vehicles left on the night drive. As you heard the one vehicle saw cheetah, serval and porcupine. The other vehicle (included me) saw at least 2 caracal (first time I saw caracal on Rietvlei)!!, got stuck in the mud , saw a new born eland baby with its mother that was born earlier the evening!! common reedbuck, etc.

You all wondered probably where I had disappeared to, when we came back... Jeanri and I went to check out that fire... luckily it was outside the reserve, and on our way back, we found the brown hyena. The only people that were left was Betelgeuse, Gamespotter and Johan N. They did see it!! It was so relaxed, I watched it for close to an hour!! What a wonderful brown hyena sighting!! On the way back, marshowl and a mole snake!

I did not take many pics... but have a few that I will share tomorrow...

I think Gerharddb's idea is a good one What do you think??

Brown hyena! In spite of our other wonderful sightings I am really now, but we still had a long drive home and had to leave! Glad that the fire did not threaten the reserve!

I agree with Gerharddb's idea both for doing it annually and doing some fun activities at the same time, and even more with Snakie on doing it on a bi-annual basis! Next time I will also be there very early in the morning!

Looks like you all had an incredible time and I am with some of those night drive sightings!!

A very warm welcome to you Madleopard I hope that we see a lot more of you around in future.

We had a great time meeting lots of 'new' people and catching up with other friends. We had to take the grandchildren back so missed the evening fun. Shame we missed some more 'old' friends.

A regular meet would be a good idea.

I took a whole lot home - I will not be able to face milktart for at least 3 days once this lot is finished ...
