Hey Slumtowners. I think we have all been to KNP since we were last together. Don't you think we should have a braai?

Hi Slummies,

Did you meet at Guido's in Vincent. I remeber the place for their good pizza and had one fatal blind date at the place in the previous century.

I stayed in St Georges street, Southernwood, for nearly 3 years and fell in love with the place.

I had a good laugh at the referral of EL as Slummies and found the name quite aptly. No offence but EL is just different

I moved to EL in the late eighties and found the place quite different from places like Cape Town. Even if the place is called slummies EL crept into my hart.

The people is the most friendliest from all the provinces. Thanks for the memories that sparked from your "Slummies meeting.

Hi son godin. Welcome from E L. I was born here, brought up on a farm just nearby, married an E L man here, brought up my children here (they have married and moved on) and still live here, and will probably end my life here. We have always enjoyed Slummies. So glad you enjoyed your stay here for 3 years. It is indeed the friendliest city that I have exprienced. If you came back though you would be surprised at the change - I am sorry to say like parts of SA it's becoming 3rd world. I won't go into detail but the people are still friendly and we still like living here and keep hoping things will improve. But then when things get too bad we can take a few Rand from savings and pack our small caravan and get healing in Kruger or Addo. :D

Hi Dalene D,

We will spend Xmas at Mpekweni this year. I might pass EL on the way back to Mpumalanga to show my son where I stayed in a lovely Victorian house (used to be opposite the Chamber of Commerce).

All I can say about changes is that I now stay in a province famous for pot holes (used to be EL when I stayed there) namely MP or moerse potholes. The last time I visited my hiking budding in EL was in 2006. I did note the change then and at first could not recognise much when approaching from KWT. :? Luckily for GPS to find Nahoon drive. Enjoy your meets.
