I`m also in. Will work my SO`s gall to say yes. We are campers, love the bush and wild live and will enjoy such a weekend . The memories ("onthou jy nog'?) thing around a great campfire sounds great to me.

Bataleur is a lot less affordable than Balule and theres no camping there...I thought this was a camping get together.

Guys, there's a forum rule stating that all fund rasing activities must be approved by SANParks so just make sure you follow the correct route.

The HRs are doing a lot of work in the park with regards to fund raising so maybe you should get in touch with them to avoid possible duplication or stepping on toes.

I was having a little chuckle.. Just imagine some poor soul at a sighting getting out his car and then suddenly being surrounded by yellow ribbons and snapping cameras... all coming from the direction of Balule.
Wish I could come but can only make it in August 2011..

Been doing some thinking about this one for the past few days. (Also been very busy with race prep for my big day on Sunday at the World Funride Championships. (Most commonly known as the 94.7 Highveld cycle challenge.) so I have been a bit indisposed.

I think in order to get the timing right and to get maximum 'mite attendance, we should maybe try and arrange this for the Easter weekend in 2011. Either that or towrds the end of the month when they have "Freedom day" and "workers day" so close together.

What are your thoughts on this?

Need to look at a calendar, but it sounds good.
The public holidays in April in 2010 are terrible for me

Ok, looked at the calendar:
Good Friday: Friday 22 April 2011
Family Day: Monday 25 April 2011
Freedom Day: Wednesday 27 April 2011
Worker's Day: Monday 2 May 2011

So, if you take 3 days' leave (26, 28, 28 April), you get 11 days' holiday! (22 April to 2 May). This doesn't happen often, the Easter weekend is usually much earlier in the month.

As it is so far away, it gives us time to plan and I am sure that one day, someone from SANAPARKS will respond to my e-mail regaring booking out the whole camp.

We just have to make sure we get enough support.
