Arks, I can't identify the bug on the right, but the ones on the left appear to be Milkweed Bugs - Spilostethus pandurus. Hope that helps.

Arks,
I just can't seem to find the first insect. It looks like some sort of moth, but just not sure.

I think that the second one may be a Drone Fly - Eristalis tenax

You could also post the photo on this website, someone there may be able to identify it.

Sorry Arks, can't help with this one. I have found a few that look similar, but they have short antennae, or have color on the head. Looks like a Blister Bug, but the antennae are way too long.

Or one of the Longhorn Beetles perhaps normana53? I found one similar - Ceroplesis capensis but not 100% sure. Red markings seem different.

Thanks norman and Rosemary! When I googled Ceroplesis capensis, I found several that look quite like this one. Seems quite a bit of variety in the red markings :?

It does look like the photo of a Rooibos Longhorn Beetle http://www.ispot.org.za/node/150791 that was taken at a small reserve near CapeTown. The markings don't match my books, but do match the photo on Google, so I would say that you found the identity yourself!

Hello,

Can anyone help me identify this colorful fellow that I found in mid-May at the Pinnacle in Blyde River Canyon (luckily not in my chalet, lol) ? I love his face, looks like the Grinch that stole Christmas !

Hi can anyone help to confirm, or correctly ID this.
I first ID this from my insect book as a Slender Ant (Tetraponera). But on re-look and re-think an ant has 6 legs, also the Slender ant is only 4-10mm long and the eyes are on the side of the head.
This insect and I am now thinking spider has 8legs, is about 18mm long, it can spin a web ( see insert ). The actual eyes are in front ( see insert ). The eye on the side of the head I think are false eyes ???.
Saw this in a friends garden in Marloth Park.

This is definitely a Orthoptera - Family: Pyrogomorphidae. My bet would be on a Milkweed, maybe Common Milkweed.
