I have used the laundry facilities at Shingwedzi and it was fine, not crowded at all but it was april
Finding the laundry facilities in Skukuza was a bit of a challenge

I have never done laundry in the park before but I am going to have to do laundry at least once this trip, so I suppose I must take R5 and R2 coins with me.
I do not believe in tumble drying so will I be allowed to hang some washing up on our campsite in Tsendze? (I will be doing laundry at Mopani)

Some 'mites don't need tumble drier's or washing lines, they just tie their clothing "around the driver's mirror!!!"

We have used the laundry facility at Lower Sabie, and had an interesting conversation with one of the staff while we waited.
He was a Veterinary Student intern who was part of a TB study group.
My SO, being a Veterinarian had a long involved conversation with him.
Our clothes were cleaned and dried, and we learned something about the Veterinary Services that we wouldn't have learned any other way!

So how do you foreign mites make sure you have the right type of coin for the right camp?

I'm sure we'll have to wash a few times while in KNP. And when I say we, I mean Mrs. Stark. So I want to make sure she has the right tools for the job.

@Stark: Pot luck! I'm not that organised.
As mentioned, I had to trek about the whole of Shingwedzi camp fronting complete strangers to swap an old coin for a 'new' one, they probably thought I was a bit bonkers - but it was fun anyway! :)

Laundry facilities

Hi there - we are going to be camping at Maroela at the end of June and was wondering if there were any laundry facilities either at the camp or at Orpen?

Hi Rosco;

I don't think there are laundry facilities at Maroela, but Orpen has.

Enjoy your trip!

Dear Roscoltman

You will have to make use of laundry facilities at Orpen camp which is about four kilometres from Maroela.

makes me think of the day the Canadian dude asked me if he needs to put a Kruger rand in the washer .......noooo but bring that kruger rand I will swop it for you.
I do my washing late at night while the camp is sleeping best time, dump it in and wonder around in the dark or sit in the laundry and watch the movie Prey on the laptop .... freaky

I have also found that different machines seem to take different coins - even in the same camp. Our last holiday, we did laundry at Mopani, and had to make two trips to the store to get the correct change. We also had a wonderful experience with one of the maintenance staff, who came in shortly after we had put our clothes in one of the washers. He told us that the washer we were using didn't work properly. He removed his just completed load of laundry and insisted that we remove our clothes from the malfunctioning washer and use the one he was using. This even though he had another load waiting!

Laundry

Which camps provide the Laundry facilities please? Could you also buy small packets of soap powder, such as just what you need for a single wash there and then?
Thank you very much

Not all of them,, some take 5xR2.... that's why I always collect R2 and R5 coins..

Thats what we ran into, ruud. That and some machines taking new R5 and others taking old R5. Thankfully JenB was a text message away to sort it out for me. :)
