How do I book a Wilderness Trail hike?

Unread postby jetlag26 » Tue Jan 21, 2014 2:37 am

We were in Kruger during December and loved it! Now we want to go back in March and do a couple of the Wilderness Trail hikes, mainly Bushman's Trail (16 Mar) and the Wolhuter (19 Mar).

However we cannot figure out how to book the hikes on-line. The site keeps sending us back to booking inside the rest camp, in this case, Berg-en-dal.

What are we doing wrong? The site seems to say that there are openings.

Thanks in advance.

Have you made your accommodation bookings yet?
Possibly this is required and then when booking the trails just quote the reservation # as reference where it will be added to your account.
You might have to do this by e-mail?

Warm welcome to the forum meowburt!

Bush braai's have to be booked with the camp you want to do it with and there is a minimum number of 4 people required before they will accept a booking so contact them and see what can be arranged.

Have a read through Bush Braais and breakfast for lots of info and advice.

You will be picked up by the guides from Olifants for your morning walk at Balule.

For most of the SANParks activities one does need to be staying overnight in the camps.

There are walks/drives that one can do while staying outside the park and you pay extra for those.

We have rules in place for activities, such as the activity needs to be booked at the same camp as the accommodation, which has further rules for the night of the activity or the previous night.

If you can give me the combination, I will do some tests to confirm the rules are accurate.

I will need the camp you are booking accommodation for, the dates, and then what activities and the dates

Thanks

Hi Stevenjm,

Thanks very much.
Just tried again but still doesn't seem to work. It recognises I have an existing booking but when I try to add an activity I still get the following error:
"Error Adding Activity: To book this activity you are required to have an accommodation booking at this camp"
I have the following camp bookings (and am trying to book the following activities)
Mon 16th March: L Sabie
Tues 17th March: L Sabie (Night Drive)
Weds 18th March: L Sabie
Thu 19th March: Satara
Fri 20th March: Satara (Morning Walk)
Sat 21st March: Satara
Sun 22nd March: Mopani
Mon 23rd March: Mopani (Night Drive)
Tues 24th March: Mopani
Weds 25th March: P Maria
Thurs 26th March: P Maria
Fri 27th March: P Maria (Morning Walk)

Let me know if you need anything else. Many thanks, Rob

Samson123,

I too, went around in circles and got a bit frustrated, then realized that I wasn't doing it right. Just in case you are doing the same thing, let me walk you through it...

1. Log in to ONLINE BOOKINGS
2. Click on EXISTING RESERVATIONS
3. Click on the RESERVATION NUMBER that you want to add to
4. Here you should see a list of all of the camps into which you are booked. Bottom right click on ADD ACTIVITY
5. This is where I went wrong. There is a picture of a basket and it says ADD ACTIVITIES. If you click on that, you will go around in circles and start over. Don't click on add activities there but rather go down and BELOW you should see a green bar with the park listed, click on THAT...in my case, it says KRUGER NATIONAL PARK. Then you should get a list of all of the camps and each one lists the activities available for any particular date. Click on the date and go from there.

Perhaps that will work for you. It worked for me but only after I went in circles for longer than I care to admit.

September Guided Walks & Drives Schedule

Unread postby Baja Boojum » Sun Feb 08, 2015 2:58 am

What is the best way to get a copy of the guided walks and drives schedule for the last two weeks of September and first week in October?

I'm trying to coordinate activities with lodging, and can't remember how I got the program schedule the last time we visited the park. The guided activities we attended are some of our best Kruger memories.

I've sent an email to reservations@sanparks, and most of the individual camps, but many camp emails came back rejected. Instead of calling each camp (which is expensive from the US) I'm hoping there is an easier source of information.

Thanks!

Baja, have a look Activities Availability
Click on the camps you want to book and you will see a monthly calendar or a particular date which you can access.
Hope this helps.
