Have we got an update on this at all? I tried to google but cant find out any further information. I was hoping we would get to go when we are in Kruger in April. Just seems like it is taking ages.

Thanks Hippotragus. I guess we will just have to wait and check it out when we are there. You wonder if all long legal procedure is even worth it, seems to be a bit of a game of chess between the two parties.

I have asked again but I'm sure as soon as there is some resolution SANParks will be only too happy to inform us.
Unfortunately these legal wrangles often do take an incredible amount of time to finalise.

Thank you Elsa.

I do understand that legal battles can take a lot of time. But surely when SANParks go into a agreement with a party, they can set up the contract in such a way that should either the party or SANParks not keep up the agreement :rtm: , that such a agreement will then be null and void.

Just my thoughts, seeing that this according to the info on the forum, has been going on for just over a year now. :?

Following Elsa's request for clarity from SANParks, Lesley obtained this response for us:

A final decision regarding operation at the site has not been taken. However, it should be noted that we won the legal battle related to the site and hence cleaning up could happen after which the screening could be removed and hence access to the premises could be given to guests to view the site and the locomotive.

Hi DB,

Thank you for this update regarding the restaurant situation on the train platform. Is there any idea of by when Ciao is expected to be open again.

Afraid not Riaan, as per Lesley's response.
Once there is something definite re the opening sure SANParks will be happy to let us all know.

Hi BerkiSA.

The train restaurant is still closed, and has been like that for quite sometime now, so far no one really knows when it will open again.

To my knowledge the buff pie gets served only at the Skukuza golf club restaurant.

Dear Valued Guests

Kindly see Feedback on the below:

1. Strategic planning on the Selati train restaurant is still in process. To date SANParks is not in a position to say when it ill reopen. However, it should be noted that the main restaurant and take away section in Skukuza had proven to be very popular and provides food of high quality;
2. Buffalo pies are not served at Nkhuhlu or any of the other rest stops.

Trust you’ll find this in order.

We bought a delicious Kudu pie in Tshokwane in February . It was filled to the brim with soft tasty meat. Maybe you should try one
