My father has just mentioned that you need an exit permit to leave the park, is this still the case or has it changed, we didn't need one when we last visited in 2005. Can anyone advise me?

You do need one, but it's easy, they will give it to you at the last camp you stay at before leaving, so don't worry about it :gflower:

When visiting the Kruger in December we exited the park a few times, you just go to guards at the gate and they "issue" you with an exit permit, when re entering the park just show the guards your permit to get back in.

Yip .. as easy as Carol G and Tent dweller said .. :) If your last camp forgets to give you one, just ask them, but they generally are quite good with that :)

I think you now have to get the exit permit the day before you leave, rather than when you book into the last camp on your itinerary. I know that was the case in 2012, I haven't heard that they've changed it again.

My experience was if you were leaving early before reception opened you could pick it up the day before, otherwise on the day you leave but we have also had it given to us when we checked into our last camp!
So lots of choices!
bottom line, you must have it when exiting!

On our recent trip during December the exit permit was given at check in at our last camp

Hi - been to Kruger twice this year, and both times we were automatically given the exit permit when we checked in at our last camp, even if we were staying a few nights. They will staple it into your green entry/conditions leaflet, so you can easily check it's there.

If you want to leave for shopping etc and then return the same day, the gate will stamp the most recent camp printout in your green leaflet and you just show the stamp when you drive back through (no need to go into reception at the gates when you return).

On my next trip, think I will refuse to accept my exit permit from them, and then I will just have to stay thereImageImage

I think a LOT of employers will be getting 'I was not allowed to leave the park' excuse now

I was given my exit permit on the last camp/day when we checked in.
Wish I would have had that excuse not to return to "civilization"

When we were in Kruger in June we were held at the Phalaborwa gate for 25 minutes and nearly missed our flight because the last camp made some sort of mistake on the exit permit or exit date or something like that and so the gate guard didn't want to let us leave, so make sure your paperwork is correct.
