There are several negative comments about Wimpy at Pretoriuskop on FB.

Have any of you eaten there yet? :hmz:

Hi JeanniR,

Yes we have eaten there on 22 July and the service were bad. I did complain on the forum and about a week after that the manager from Wimpy in Pretoriuskop phoned me to apologise. Told me they never expected the shop to be so busy and that he has send all the waiters on training again. Told me whenever we are in the park again i must pop in and see if the service has improved.

These photos were taken of the renovations of the restaurant at Skukuza on 13 September.
Does anyone have an update as to when the new Cattle Baron will be opening in Skukuza?

Dear 'Mites;

The following outlines the planning:
- Compass to operate till the 21st of July 2014;
- On the 22nd of July we hope to have 2 operators (Tourvest as the Cattle Baron franchisee as well as the Boskombuis which is operated by Tindlovu and who operated when the Satara, Pretoriuskop, Letaba and Olifants restaurants were refurbished) to offer an interim offering – potjie kos and other South African meals under canvas – not to be missed. Final arrangements in this regard is in process;
- During this time Tourvest will also do the conference catering from the conference centre kitchen;
- Opening of the new Cattle Baron Main Restaurant and Take Away is anticipated for last week of September 2014;
- Selati to remain closed due to legal process.

So in effect it should be at any time now but of course depends on how things have progressed.

Will see if I can get an update. :thumbs_up:

Ate there on the 15 September. Service was OK, but it is just Wimpy food after all.

Ate at the M&B in Olifants - great service but the food was very average. They piled way too much salad on the plate so that you could'nt comfortably eat the steak - and the M/R steak was much closer to W/D.

Just returned yesterday from 1st SA visit. We loved the food at the Boskombuis at Skukuza. Also eating under their tent at night seemed soo "safai-ish" :wink: . The wife preferred the Wimpy at P-skop to the M&B food @ Lower Sabie. It seems you must place an order to enjoy the beautiful deck view. We both found the pizza @ Debonairs in Satara too "diifferent" from pizza in the U.S. We liked the service at all establishments.

Hi ctm7943, glad to hear you had a wonderful time ins SA.

I can just imagine that the Pizza you get in the states taste much different than in SA, won't mind tasting one of those huge Pizzas they make in the US, they look very appetizing. Most of the pizzas we get in SA are from franchised groups so the menu are sometimes limited.

Did you guys also enjoyed a Braai (barbeque) in Kruger :wink: , according to me that is the best food you can get in Kruger. :mrgreen:

Leopard fan,
Unfortunately, we did not have a chance to enjoy a proper braii while at Kruger. :cry:
We did eat at the a private reserve on National Braii Day, it was deliscious!!
However, when we return (in 2 yrs- AUS next yr). We will stay for 10 days, 3 camps and have an opportunity to fully enjoy the KNP experience, including many braii nights.
This 1st time (4 nights) we stayed @ LS (perimeter bungalow), Sku (riverside bungalow), LS (safari tent) & Satara (perimeter bungalow) for 1 night each. We only ate at the restaurants and picnic stops (Nkhulu & Tshwone). We self drove (about 8hrs daily) during our daily camp relocations & had sunset guided drives daily. We were OK with the restaurants and the Tshowane picnic site was fabulous
But, now that we have "the lay of the land", we will do a more relaxed trip next time. Morning self drive, return to camp (or picnic area). Relax in camp duing mid day. Go out again late afternoon & return for a braii :dance:
This SA trip was the best ever!
Thanks to all of the 'Mites for your assistance :clap:
