My SO does that route at least 4 times per week. This morning he had a 55 minute delay going from Karino to Malelane Gate but on the return with clients, who had a plane to catch, took the Boulders road which took him just over an hour from Malelane gate to KMIA.
Hopefully TRAC directive we received, is correct that the stop/go's will not be in operation from this Friday at close of business. Only time will tell I guess

Only one stop/go now, and it only held me up 6mins this morning. On the way home I drove straight through, but had been held up before that by very slow moving plant vehicle. There are a few areas with poor surface still, so I am sure there will be speed restrictions in place, but it looks as if all should be OK for removal of the stop/go at the end of the week.

EJ,
Thanks for letting us know

Sounds positive.

Are there still stop and go board between Nelspruit and Malelane and are they operational on a Saturday? Will be driving from JNB airport to Pretoriuskop and have decided it will be best to use Malelane gate and pick up some shopping at the Spar enroute, time dependant. If anyone has travelled this route recently and update would be appreciated. Thanks Sandy

Hi Sandybabe

There is still 1 permanent Stop & Go between Nelspruit and Malelane. I have not traveled recently but the TracN4 twitter account(a very useful source of info when traveling to KNP) says the delay is +/- 20minutes

Did it on Monday, and the sign at the entry point said average delay was 40 minutes. We waited about half an hour and I guess the whole thing including the slow drive through added close to one hour to my journey time.
The wait in the opposite direction looked much worse so I chose to return via Numbi gate and White River. That is the road from hell!
Potholes so deep they'd swallow a small family car and unmarked speed bumps to ruin the best suspension.

There is only one stop go so the total time in one direction was 30-40 mins, in other words going there 30-40 mins and coming back the same You may be lucky and catch it open, we didn't

Carol G - where exactly is the stop at the moment, between Nelspruit and Malelane or between Malelane and Croc Bridge?

Thank you!
Leana

The stop is between Nelspruit and Malelane, the road between Malelane and CB is also under construction, but you can bypass it by taking the road left past Ngwenya lodge, there is a sign up showing you where to turn left off the N4, you come out between Komatipoort and CB gate, good road and no extra distance

Just wanted to tell you it's only the last about 20 km before komatiepoort that is under construction, not the entire road between Malelane and Komatipoort, you take the Ngwenya bypas just before the construction begins
No unfortunately I don't know about the Badplaas road

Leana, just to make it clear, when you get to Malelane, carry on with the N4 for about 28 km until you get the Ngwenya lodge turnoff to the left, there is also a sign saying alternative route to Komatipoort. Turn left and just follow the signs, you will come out between CB and Komatiepoort
Enjoy Kruger

Hi, does anyone know when these roadworks are due to finish? We are travelling in September and am wondering if we need to consider the potential delay here?

Merlin11 they have still got quite a way to go with the roadworks on the Malelane road, at the rate they're going I don't think they will be finished by September. We were there last September and they have not progressed very much

You can look at the website for the N4 - www.tracn4.co.za or email them on helpdesk@tracn4.co.za and ask them when they think the roadworks will be finished. We initally were told August 2014 but dont think that will be the case.

Any up to date news? Will be driving from Old Joes Kia to Melanie 3 September. Which is the best Woolworth's store for stocking up for two weeks? Is there one in Nelspruit? Thanks Pen

We went through the stop and go coming back home on 3 June - we waited about 40 min. I noticed the sign said "Average waiting time - 90min"
