Very sad to hear this.I always thought that snares were put out by people along the borders of the park to obtain food. There are no villagers or borders near Lower Sabie and I dont think people who set up snares would come so close to Lower Sabie camp.Wonder who could have done this awful thing :wall:

Hi SeanP,

Thanks for the update. I took this photo on 12 September 2013. It is very upsetting to think that this beautiful animal might not survive.

Thank you for the pic Janeli. Such a special sighting and heartbreaking to think the animal you saw could be the one in trouble right now. Humanity needs to catch a wake-up. Kruger is like a church to me so these crimes against our Rhino, Leopard and other animals is an absolute abomination to the highest degree.

I couldn't agree more. What people do to animals is just too terrible.
I made a new topic "Road Carnage in Kruger" on 17 Sept 2013 on the Forum about people driving too fast killing innocent animals in Kruger. It is very upsetting. We came across two little warthogs lying dead on the road killed by somebody who drove too fast. It is so upsetting because what happened to the warthogs and this leopard has nothing to do with the foodchain.

Those are heart breaking images. Im not a bunny hugger being a doctor, but this is just horrific on every level and it does make me emotional.

It feels like the Parks sanctity is being badly violated yet again.

Snares are so excruciatingly painful.

Im interested to know how much of a problem this is in the parks and where, how far from the fences, locations etc. :hmz:

I wonder if anyone could shed any light on snares in Kruger. Is there an increase in this kind of poaching?

Dear All

Please note that the search for Leopard is still on. The rangers at Lower Sabie are doing everything in their best to ensure that this animal is being rescued. We will keep you informed about this search.

It is good to know that the search for the leopard is still going on. What is his changes to still be alive?
Has he been seen recently? It must be very difficult to find and dart a leopard in the bush.
It breaks my heart thinking of this beautiful animal not being able to hunt or eat.
:( :( :(
