JenB, I spent some time with some ellies, and this is how good it can get, they are the most awesome animals, and i prefer a good ellie sighting to a Lion sighting. 8)

Yip, so do I! The otherside of the river with binoculars!

Safari Gal, we'll see if we can get any information.
Lesego is out of office for a few days so we might have to wait until she gets back. :)

I hope everyone is fine including the elephant and rhino.

We once travelled back to Shimiwini. On the sand road before the camp it was very overgrown on both sides.

Before we knew it we were surrounded by a breeding herd of elephants. The one cow must have got a big fright because she immediatly charged us. We had to reverse our Microbus on a narrow road for about three km.

She just kept comming. By that time the kids and myself included were quite histerical.

We waited for about 30min to make sure they moved on before why tried again to get to camp.

What memories!

This story has had an amazing response! Glad to have been a small part.

If anyone hears anything further about the rhino cow that was shot, please let us know. I really hope she's fine. It would be a terrible tragedy if she didn't make it.

Hopefully just make folks aware of how strong an ellie is and if at all possible to not get yourself into a position where you put yourself at risk.

Just for interest sake - the ellie got hold of two cars. First a Hyundi Atos with two British tourists after which it turned on the Chevy Spark with the American tourist.

Has anyone come across the grumpy elephant since the incident on Monday?

Wonder if it would not be possible for Aat to identify that elephant from the photos?

Wow

And neither vehicle is red

Looks like Tsotsi, but he is in the Letaba area and is chilled.

Maybe the ellie was taking speed

We encountered a very angry Ellie in Musth on the S118 or S119 on Friday. We got stuck behind him for 45 min cause he refused to move off the road. We kept our distance and made no move to push him or get past him but he was still very aggressive and a few time we had to hit reverse cause he was flapping and storming in our direction but we gave way and he went back to his merry stomp along. At one stage a game viewing vehicle came up the opposite side of the road and caught him by surprise and they had to give way very fast.

I was actually looking at the pics today and saying to a friend I swear it was the same Ellie. It has similar sized tusks and seems to have a similar bump on the end on his trunk and nick his ear and I wondered if there was a chance it was the same Ellie.

Let me find the pic and post, maybe some recognizes him. I'm not very good at telling the difference between one and the other but maybe someone else is.
