Hi , I have been to the Panorama route this past weekend and to the Kruger ,
I suggest you travel to Graskop from Paul Kruger gate (1hour) , and then from Graskop you can drive up the Panorama route to Blyde canyon.
along the way there is beautiful waterfalls , gods window, etc, need about 3-4 hours for all of these including Blyde canyon, then from Blyde canyon back down the same way you came and head of to Nelspruit , you will have more then enough time.
so do it , it's worth the visit as this route is one of the main ones in whole of SA.

I remember my "Once in a Lifetime" trip to SA in 2003. I'm just about to return for my 8th trip in November...

Yes I would recommend that you see the Panorama route, it is spectacular. The problem you may have is dragging yourself away from Kruger. You should be able to get around it in a day.

Have fun.

 This has all the signs of becoming a "once in a lifetime" vacation as well, just like mine in 2004. (Trip number 8 coming up here too. )

I see a little bit of a problem. To properly see the route you should really take a whole day. Berg en Dal does not really work then, that is way too far south.
I would suggest going really African and enjoy a safari tent in Tambotie instead for the first night in Kruger. That will give you the most time in the route, and Tambotie is just inside the park.
Then the next morning you may wake up to lions roaring, or jackals barking, the rasp of the resident leopard... No better way to enjoy the first cup of coffee/tea in the world.

From Tambotie to Skukuza is a very easy drive and will actually show you far more of Kruger. And that means that planning the next Kruger vacation will also be a little easier. ;)
