Awe inspiring pictures ADW, thanks for sharing them with us.

Seems these floods occur every 12 years, we were in the park in 1988 when the Letaba almost burst its banks (the pictures were on the wall of the Letaba restaurant for many years) and again about 2 weeks before the 2000 floods. The rivers were very full even then.

I remember after the 2000 floods, the Sabie river had picked up one section of the Lower Sabie bridge and dumped it about 20 metres down river.

The power of water is awesome!

Many thanks for sharing these pics adw. Knowing this area so well, I find the changes brought about by the presence of water incredible. I'm glad your pics are going to be preserved in the SANParks archives.

Incredible pics, thanks for sharing. I still can't believe I was there a week before and it was so hot and dry.

I dont know, but there is a weather warning out for tropical cyclone Irina, which is swinging in over Mozambique towards Mpumalanga and northern KZN. A great deal of rain is forecast.
