We saw a pack of 18 wild dogs on the Orpen Road right next door to Nsemani(?) dam in early December 2012. They were all lying on the road and almost no traffic - eventually they got up and to see them go into the hunting mode was amazing - they all rushed around greating each other and making high pitched noises before wandering down the road - some of the adults went ahead and next thing we knew 2 came rushing back with a baby impala in their jaws!!! Such an incredible experience. It really is a top road to see them on - invariably the sightings board has someone having seen them on this road - this was our first time seeing them there although we have been fortunate enough to see 1 wild dog near Nkhulu picnic site (between Lower Sabie and Skukuza) and then a couple of sightings between Malelane and Pretoriuskop

They really are such special dogs - my SO thinks they are ugly but I am a HUGE fan!!

WOW, Looks like I'll have to plan a trip to Orpen to see them. Hopefully they around in June

Will have to stick on the road between Orpen and Satara next July ....hope we get a chance to see them too....

Have only seen them once - although missed them several times by a canine whisker - on this road, but they definitely frequent this pathway through Kruger.
