Yes,Maddie88,a photo on a desk speaks a thousand words. As one's mood changes, the framed image reminds one of a special place or day or happening in a context that takes one's emotion at that moment into account.Such a moment invariably makes me thankful for having the memory in a frame and makes coming to grips with certain realities much easier. Thanks for sharing your special memory.

This photo on my desk,in spite of its simplicity, constantly reminds me to live my dream.I came across this happy Giraffe family on a very special day near Shingwedzi:

Yes, I know that it is not a very personal experience but I love that view all the same

I´m with you Elsa!!
That low level bridge out of Shingwedzi camp is exactly the place where I would like to be right now. If there are not to many cars around who want to pass the bridge, it´s one of the best places in the park

Maddie88

This is a topic very close to my heart. I'm also a South African living very far away from home and miss South Africa everyday. I can't help myself looking at pictures of our holiday's there every time I put on my laptop.

This picture was taken on our last visit in Biyamiti and it gives me goosebumps when I look at it. Dreaming of sitting next to the fire and absorbing all the sounds and smells all around me. Pure bliss.

Oh how I miss Kruger right now :( ... Thanks for all your photo's, very nice

Now this is a nice topic  I know exactly how you feel Maddie88. I live abroad, but grew up on a game farm in South Africa, and if its in your blood, its in your blood. You will ALWAYS miss it. :(

I don't have a favourite picture to show you all, still new on the forum and needs to find out how to post them...

I am not South African, but after our first visit to South Africa last year, I think of Africa daily. We return in 19 days, and I can't wait. On our visit last year I think I was bitten by a bug, and now feel I have Africa flowing through my veins.
We started planning this trip before we left South Africa on our last trip.
It was truly love at first sight for both of us, and we plan to return many times in the future. This was the first Veld sunset we experienced in South Africa, range fires were burning in the area, which made for spectacular sunsets.

Looks like the H14 crossing over the Letaba KV - but I've been known to get these things terribly wrong.

This is what sits on a 1.2m long canvas above the bed.

I cannot describe how much I looked forward to visiting this magic place again this past June. But unfortunately due to a sick grandson we had to rush from Punda Maria to Tzaneen where he spent 2 nights in the hospital. Instead of enjoying the tranquility of Klopperfontein, I walked the streets of Tzaneen.

Great topic - indeed one can't go back enough to SA, but in between trips it's only the pictues that keep the dream alive.

This one is from my recent trip to KTP and features on my desktop. I especially love the effect of B& on this early morning picture.
