I have not seen all of the picnic spots, but the one I found quite special was Afsaal. Good atmosphere there and pap and sheba was great

Don’t even need to think about this one, it’s Babalala. If you’re there you know you’re in the north and peace and quiet reigns. 2nd is Muzandzeni, that spot is so clean that if it wasn’t for the sand you could eat from the ground. Sometime I think they even want to sweep the sand away.

When staying at Sirheni we try and get to Babalala about an hour before we have to be back at the camp. We usually have the picnic site to ourselves at that time as even the staff have retired to get their dinner ready. With a bit of luck there will be something at the nearby waterhole, once we had a herd of 12 Roan to share our sundowners with, and usually we are able to toast the sun as it retires for the night.

It is good to see that the northern picnic sites are popular as they are to me quieter and it is nice to linger for a while. For those who are in Kruger over the long weekend - happy picnicking
