Hi,

I agree with Stoffel. Muzandzeni and Nhlanguleni Picnic Spots are my two favourites.

I have not seen all of the picnic spots, but the one I found quite special was Afsaal. Good atmosphere there and pap and sheba was great

Don’t even need to think about this one, it’s Babalala. If you’re there you know you’re in the north and peace and quiet reigns. 2nd is Muzandzeni, that spot is so clean that if it wasn’t for the sand you could eat from the ground. Sometime I think they even want to sweep the sand away.

When staying at Sirheni we try and get to Babalala about an hour before we have to be back at the camp. We usually have the picnic site to ourselves at that time as even the staff have retired to get their dinner ready. With a bit of luck there will be something at the nearby waterhole, once we had a herd of 12 Roan to share our sundowners with, and usually we are able to toast the sun as it retires for the night.
26 - 29 August Balule
30 August - 1 September Sirheni
2 - 5 September Tsendze

9 - 12 November Punda Camping
13 November Letaba Safari Tent
14 - 17 Balule Camping

It is good to see that the northern picnic sites are popular as they are to me quieter and it is nice to linger for a while. For those who are in Kruger over the long weekend - happy picnicking

There are two for me.

1. Mooiplaas - As it brings back alot of childhood memories of when Mopani camp was not built yet and it was the only place to stop on your way to Shingwedzi from Phalaborwa. Also you sometimes have to wait for the Ellies to clear before you can continue making your breakfast.

2. Muzandzeni / Nhlanguleni - Just for being quite. Have been ther many time when we were the only people there - priceless.

Hi,

I have to agree with MKoch on Muzandzeni & Nhlanguleni as being our favourite picnic spots as well.

We have also been there when there has been nobody else there, so nice and quiet.

Mooiplaas was always our favourite BUT Makhadzi is definitely our favourite now, it is very well run and just a pleasant place to sit and enjoy a good breakfast.

We enjoy Mlondozi and Nkuhlu.

The view from Mlondozi is awsome, and the hippos grunting at Nkuhlu while you have breakfast just relaxes me completely.

Babalala has so many good memories ... With a keeper called "eenoog" he was the best. Pafuri with the keeper a top bird spotter...
