@ Jose: Fantastic Pic from LS Bridge. The colours are just AMAZING. It looks like a painting!

Must admit we also love Sunset Dam, but I will NEVER forget LS Deck and I have to tell you the story.

It was in July of this year and we decided to go and have sundowners on the LS Deck. It was very hot and we decided to leave the alcahol and opt for Cream Soda Floats. We were sitting on the deck sipping our floats for about half an hour, when the most awful sound came from about 10meters downstream from the deck.

It was dark by that stage, so we couldn't see anything except reeds and bush rustling like crazy. I can't explain the sound, I've never heard it before, but imagined that it might be how a buffalo sounds when dying or having stomach ache. :hmz:

Some visitors staying in the chalets next to the river came outside with all the commotion and started searching with the flashlights.

What a sight, as soon as the light hit the right spot, I almost fainted!
It was lions attacking a hippo! Right in front of us! And the sound was the hippo, we also heard some growls from the lions.

The hippo eventually escaped, but we were stunned. Here we were sipping on floats with NO IDEA that lions were right behind us! SO AMAZING!

Thus, we ALWAYS have sundowner floats on LS Deck! It's good luck!

What an experience, Karasu.

I think that I have decided that my favourite place for sunsets is Mathekenyane. I have been fortunate to have experienced a few while on Sand River trails. You can also experience the start of the sunset if you are staying at Skukuza in August. It is magic.

I wonder if there have been any more closings of the Mathekenyane road due to a Leopard that was often seen in the area.?
