Forum speeds and post statistics

Unread postby stevenjm » Thu May 10, 2012 12:37 pm

Hi all,

As some of you have already noticed your post counts, topics etc. have sometimes dropped considerably or been decreased.

Let me explain the reasoning for this, with this software for the forums, constant maintenance needs to be done on post and topic indexes to speed up the load of the forum as this loads from a database.

There are a variety of clean-ups we can do, two of them which impact the count decrease are the following:

1. Resynchronise statistics - Recalculates the total number of posts, topics, users and files.
2. Resynchronise post counts - Only existing posts will be taken into consideration. Pruned posts will not be counted.

Therefore if old posts have been pruned etc., like travel tales - these will now not be included in your new current statistics.

I have got word from a few of the moderators and staff at SANParks that the forum speed has been increased noticeably.

If you have any queries on this, please let me know either on PM or email: steven.macintyre@sanparks.org

Thanks

Reason: Grammar :)
If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong.
