ecojunkie, I will give it to you. Never approach a burrow head on, you never know what is inside. As mentioned warthogs will normally leave the burrow during day times, but if it has been chased by a predator, it may have chosen the burrow to escape. If you stand directly in front of the burrow, the warthog, or for that matter any other animal, may see it as a threat and will charge you. Approach it from the side and make your presence known. Like the old dagga boys, some animals go on the attack mode if surprised.

No. Rinkhals are notorious for playing dead when they feel threatened - which sometimes results in people picking up or touching a snake that is very much alive!

Thanks Rosemary!

After a braai you retire for the night. The tent is rather stuffy and you decide to a let a little air in. You decide to unzip the bottom of the tent flap, just a little (a few inches) as it is the closest zip to you. Is this a good idea?

It's okay if the tent is on the top of a camper van. :twisted: Otherwise, not a fine idea because snakes and spiders do have a way of sneaking through the smallest spaces.

Warm air rises , therefore , you should rather open at the top , otherwise the warm air will remain trapped inside the tent :)
