The area in Africa with the most cases of lions eating people can be traced back to the diet and beliefs of the people that live in the area.

False I don't think its their diet and beliefs, but it is about the lions. If they are ill etc. there was said that they kill easier prey aka humans, and the most killings were in Africa, where the tribal villages didn't have any protection aka gates, fences etc. They also had to hunt in the bush were the lions had an advantage.

Myth. Lions, as with most predators are opportunistic hunters and will always look for 'easy' meat. Look at the man eaters of Tsavo. They have discovered that it is very easy to jump into a railway carriage and grab a juicy piece of homo sapiens. It is not that they preferred human flesh, it was just so easy to get some.

Lions will eat almost everything that moves (except earthquakes and lawnmowers)

Ok I am sorry to let you all know, you did not look deep enough into the reason why the people are being eaten by the lions. It is in fact a Fact.

So just to clear everything up I will explain. In the south of Tanzania there are mainly rural communities and they have to grow their own crops, not unlike most of Africa. The difference in this region is that the people do not eat pigs and don't even like to get close to them........due to religious reasons.

The main pray item for the lions is bushpigs and because the people don't like the pigs they don't chase them from their crops, :wall: they might just have to touch one. In the other regions the pigs are human food as well and are therefore more weary of people. :sniper:

Now since the lions primary food is close to the humans the lions will also be closer to the humans, and there will thus be more cases of people running into a lion close to home. And like Rooies said, People are not earthquakes or lawnmowers so they get eaten.

This is also the area where a male lion was shot a few years ago after eating 48 people on his own.

It is important to say that the lions do not have anything against any religion or diet people follow. They just find it easy to kill a defenceless guy walking home after a hard day's work, after all bush-pigs have nasty teeth that can injure a kitty.

Doc, I hear what you say, but to be honest, I have my doubts. Can this theory be backed up research? Do you have a source?

Rooies, this has been on NatgeoWild last month. They went to africa(lions) and India (tigers and leopards) to try and find out why there is still such a high count of man eating in certain areas.

In Mombai there are numerous leopard attacks on the fringes of the city, they pray on dogs and rats in die city. They even filmed the leopards comming into the city to hunt.

So that is my source. It could be that it is not as reliable as a university, but it makes sense.
