Fact it hapens with the Indian Myna. If a chick is toched by a human its mother will rejeckt it emediatly.

it does not happen with all birds but will happen with some..

More myth than fact: Birds have relatively small and simple olfactory nerves, which limit their sense of smell and can not detect human scent. The fact is, birds will abandon their young and their nest becaus of disturbance.

Here is my answer accoridng to "Animal myth busters" on National Geographic's website:

Well-meaning humans who find a chick on the ground may want to return the baby bird to the nest. But the bird is probably learning to fly and shouldn't be disturbed. The tale may have been invented to keep people from handling young birds.

Why It's Not True
"Most birds have a poorly developed sense of smell," says Michael Mace, bird curator at San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park. "They won't notice a human scent." One exception: vultures, who sniff out dead animals for dinner. But you wouldn't want to mess with a vulture anyway!


So while there are exceptions to the rule, this is generally a myth!!

Myth.
There is no poison in a quill, but it can kill animals by piercing the skin and infection occurs in that wound or where it penetrates the tongue the animal will starve to death.
