x 3 :)

Myth it is....OWN "The world's great thinkers have been pondering evolutionary issues since as early as the 6th century, but Scientists are still working out all the holes in our understanding of just how evolution works".

Fact or Myth: The Earth's inner core is composed primarily of an iron-nickel liquid alloy?

Myth,

No one has drilled that deep yet so it cannot be taken as a fact. It is also assumed that lava is from the earths inner core but not proven.

I would go with Myth too, since it is not a proven fact but this is what seismologists believe based on observations.

So, if you mites say Myth, what do you think the inner core of the Earth is composed of? P.S. This is for bonus points. :D

A little sleeping bunny

I think right at the center there is a hole of nothing. Due to centrifugal forces and the fact that the earth is spinning and has done so for many years. The possibility of a very small space of nothing is highly likely.

If you think of it, most solids are made up of nothing as well. The weight baring Atom us very small compared to the cloud of electrons around it. So I think there is noting in the center of the earth.

In fact, the statement is mythical because the core of the Earth is composed primarily of an iron-nickel SOLID alloy. Yes, despite the super-high temperatures there, the super-high pressures mean that the center is a giant metal ball.

Over to you, Dr Phil ...

If a civet were to eat a millipede it will die as a result of the poisons found in the millipede.

Myth.

"The African civet is an omnivorous generalist, taking small vertebrates, invertebrates, eggs, carrion, and vegetable matter. It is capable of taking on poisonous invertebrates (such as the millipedes most other species avoid) and snakes".

Fact, The low frequency vibrations from their stomach rumbling travels great distances through the ground and is then picked up by other elephants far beyond hearing, with their ears, distance.

DrPhil...Fact it is.

"Elephants have excellent hearing, but African elephants can also detect rumbles in the ground with sensory cells in their feet. An elephant will ‘hear’ these vibrations when they travel to its front feet, up its legs and shoulder bones and to its middle ear. The elephant will be able to tell where the sound is coming from by comparing the timing of the signals".
