Match one fact from each category to each of the following animals:

1. Side-Striped Jackal
2. Black-Backed Jackal
3. Cape-Fox
4. Bat-Eared Fox


Description:

a. Wolf-like
b. Dog-like
c. Fox-like
d. Only true fox in Southern Africa

Habitat:

a. More common in short grassland or arid areas, less common or absent in well-wooded areas.

b. Wide habitat tolerance, found from well-wooded areas through arid parts and even coastal areas.

c. Fairly common in more arid areas, in woodland regions it is more likely to be seen in short grass vleis or degraded areas.

d. Prefers better watered savanna regions, tall grass or open woodland.

Vocalisation:

a. Distinct yapping or howling sounds
b. Shrill bark
c. Harsh bark or yap
d. Relatively silent, but shrill and repetitive

Anyways, here it goes:

1. Side-striped Jackal:
Description: b - Dog-like

Vocalisation: b - Shrill bark (and a hooting-like sound)

2. Black-backed Jackal
Description: a - Wolf-like
