a) False. Isn't the stride length"only" in the order of 6 - 8 meters?

b) True. The mom's still teaching them. May even be at a later stage, so may be false as well depending on what you ahve in mind.

c) False? Do know that it helps with eyesight.

d) True

e) True. The so-called generic bottle-neck that followed the near-extinction of some 10,000 years ago.

f)False. A lot of deaths occurs to other predators, not just lions, so I'm going to say false here.

I would say b, d and e are True.

a - I would agree with Mr 30-06 that the stride is about half your figure. c - I believe the tear stripes act as a sun block, much as a american footballer uses a black stripe under his eyes to block glare.

A) F -I read 20feet is a avg stride- thats about 6mtrs
B)T -I think they would leave mum at 18mths, stay with siblings for another 6mths, usually leaving home co-incides with wet season when new borns make easy prey
C) F- think they reflect sun
D) T - also remain very sharp as they never contact the ground
E) T-
F) T- though hyenas are responsible for a lot of deaths too -I was surprised to read that only 1 in 20 cubs survive to adulthood

Bishop, you were awefully close, and your explanations are spot on (no pun intended)! Thanks for excellent explanations. All of them except (f) - yes, many predators do kill cheetah cubs, but it is mostly the lion that is responsible for the highest cub mortality.

Oh, the tiny brownie points too ...

DomKrag means "dumb strength" in Afrikaans, which translates further into a jack (that thing that is used for lifting cars up). Domkrag was a giant mountain tortoise that lived in Addo, and he was called this because he had the nasty habit of shuffling under a car and lifting it up with his unbelievable strength! Sadly, he died when he fell into an aardvark hole and couldn't lever himself out.
