Hi OWN and Heksie :)

Quote:
Piet Grobler: A nyala bull. Interesting is that the male is called a bull and the females are called ewes where it is in all other cases bull/cow (Larger animals) and ram/ewe for smaller animals.

Quote:
WildLife Ranching.com: The nyala antelope shows a marked sexual dimorphism in size with a large male and a much smaller female. As a result the male is known as a bull in common with the larger antelope species and the female a ewe in common with the smaller antelopes. Young males are camouflaged by their colour pattern which resembles that of a female. This protects them from the aggressive behaviour of the dominant male.

It could be interesting to see what other Wild Life experts can tell us :?

Maybe the two of you will have the answer in your Library? (Help)

I have been taught it is a bull

Definitely a Bull. The nyala is the only antelope where the female is a ewe and the male is the bull. This is due to their size difference and this is where you find the divide - any male equal to or larger than a nyala is a bull, and any female equal to or smaller than a nyala is a ewe. This is one of the first "interesting facts" you are taught in African vertebrate classes in Zoology. This is also common knowledge among the hunting community. So I'm with Philip on this one

But I said mos false in the beginning as I knew a kudu was called a bull and I just guessed they are almost the same :hmz:

True, a scorpion breastfeeds its live young and has hair all over its body.
True, all insects are mammals.

Porridge you are it

1. False
Quote:
No, scorpions are not insects.

They are arthropods - meaning they have an exoskeleton and jointed legs - but they are in a different group of arthropods from the insects.

Insects have six legs, and most have four wings, with three body sections (head, thorax, abdomen).

Scorpions are arachnids, more closely related to spiders, ticks and horseshoe crabs than they are to insects

2. False
Mammal:
Quote:
Mammal (Mammals, the class of vertebrate animals characterized by the presence of sweat glands, including sweat glands modified for milk production, hair, three middle ear bones used in hearing, and a neocortex region in the brain)

Scorpion
Quote:
Scorpions are predatory arthropod animals of the order Scorpiones within the class Arachnida. They have eight legs and are easily recognized by the pair of grasping claws and the narrow, segmented tail, often carried in a characteristic forward curve over the back, ending with a venomous stinger.
and an exoskeleton... I don't believe they are mammals. Are spiders mammals?
