Image I take a guess:
Rainfall records for the Skukuza area stretch back to 1961 and since 1983 it has been a First Order meteorological station recording soil temperature, windspeed and direction, humidity, evaporation and rainfall.

We all know that deserts are really hot during the day, but why are they so cold at night?

The very dry air of the desert holds little moisture and thus holds little heat so as soon as the sun sets, the desert cools considerably. Clear, cloudless skies also help to quickly release heat at night.

Water acts to trap infrared radiation from both the sun and the ground, and dry desert air is incapable of blocking sunlight during the day or trapping heat during the night. Thus, during daylight most of the sun's heat reaches the ground, and as soon as the sun sets the desert cools quickly by radiating its heat into space.

Most non-polar deserts are hot in the day and chilly at night (for the latitude) because of the lack of the moderating effect of water.

Why does warm weather usually bring cloudy and rainy days?

When the weather is really hot, evaporation and condensation occur and humidity increases. If the relative humidity is 100 percent, the air is saturated. When air becomes saturated, water vapor begins to condense into droplets of water.

Clouds usually form where air moves upward. As air ascends, it encounters lower and lower pressure. Air responds to lower pressure by expanding. Whenever gases expand, they cool. As air cools, its relative humidity increases until it reaches saturation and clouds form. This can then create cooler rainy weather.

If we go into more detail, it would have to do with the Coriolis effect, where the Earth's rotation comes into effect, and the fact that cold air moves faster than hot air, so ultimately with wind; air moves from areas where the air pressure is relatively high toward areas where the air pressure is relatively low, so, cold weather would follow eventually.
