How kind of you!

When I conduct research, and I find a reliable source (or so I subjectively think), I add my name too. Voila.  (Sorry, can't divulge, don't like you that much!).

The following deals with coastal lows:

True or False?

1. A coastal low is a high pressure system.
2. It usually begins on the west coast, travels along the castal areas, and dissipates near Mozambique.
3. Usually indicates an approaching cold front.
4. Usually has fog in front of it and warm winds behind it.

Let's get this quiz back up to steam by asking some thought-provoing, interesting and challenging questions!

Since trees remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, converting it into oxygen, would planting more trees around the world offset global warming?

Trees make life nicer. But most trees simply act as a carbon store until such time as they degrade, at which point the stored CO2 is re-released back into the atmosphere.
The new idea is to suck CO2 out of the air with “artificial trees”: http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/big-i ... on-capture

Interesting angle, Toko. :hmz:
Anyone else?

Anyone with a weather-type knowledge? Must be someone amongst this vast knowledge base on the forums who can throw in an attempt!

Toko is partly correct, but there is at least one other factor that affects whether planting more trees could correct global warming or not.

It has been said that some scientist have come up with idea of planting forests, which they call "carbon sinks", however, through closer study it is said that these forests will swiftly become saturated with carbon and begin returning most of their carbon to the atmosphere, they could then accelerate global warming to a certain degree.

Yes, Toko and Siobain have definitely mentioned relevent ideas pertaining to the question   ; but there is another problem in that it is thought that the forest areas of the world are becoming saturated - in other words, there won't be an opportunity to plant many more trees! Therefore, the ability of limited forests to reverse global warming is truncated (no pun intended  ).
I'll hand the mantle over to whoever of Toko or Siobain posts first!
