Easy one to get this quiz going again...

Hairs that likely belonged to humans living 195000 to 257000 years ago in Africa have been identified in fossilized (a) .... dung, according to a 2009 study that describes the first non-bony material in the early human fossil record.

Until now, the oldest known human hairs were from a 9,000-year-old Chinchorro mummy from Arica, northern Chile. This latest discovery, made at (b)...., South Africa, exceeds the mummy's age by about 200,000 years.

(a) ?
(b) ?

Lets start this one up again ...

You see some nice white dung lying next to the road in KNP. It is white and you can clearly see a lot of bone fragments and hair in the dung.

To whom did it belong?

Good day Oom Boom!
White means old or calcium(from eating bones).
I'll go with Spotted Hyena.

Reason it is not hyena ... because of their powerful digestion, you will seldom see too many bone fragments.

It basically leaves two major suspects ... of which either will be correct.

 or leopard.

Both will at times have white dung due to the intake of quantities of bone. Especially when preying on smaller prey items. But their digestion is not as powerful as that of the hyena, which leaves more intact pieces in the dung itself.

You are it!

 :D

Walking through the bush in mountainous terrain one comes across a latrine on flat ground. The twigs of two small bushes on the periphery of the latrine have a black, tarry-like substance on their ends. What animal does this suggest, and which sex of that animal?
