You are on the right track .
KNP is sacred. I am opposed to the modernisation of Kruger and from the depths of my soul long for the Kruger of yesteryear! 1000+km on foot in KNP incl 56 wild trails.200+ nights in the wildernessndloti-indigenous name for serval.

NWANEDZI

The house of GR Healy was built here by two young German contactors. GR Healy was a second lieutenant in an Irish militia regiment and was sent to James Stevenson-Hamilton sometime in 1904 to assist as a public prosecutor and clerk of the court.

I'm supposed to post a question, but I haven't read through all the previous ones, forgive me if I post something that has already been asked.

Between the 70's and 90's a family of 5 lived at this Ranger's house. The mother is a writer and film maker and made 2 movies in the Kruger. Her Father is also a very well known nature film maker. In the beginning years, this station was the most remote of all the ranger stations in the park as it was not close to a main camp. A new camp was built much later.

Kobie Kruger , daughter of Jamie Uys lived at Mhlangeni (one of her books is titled the same) where the Letaba river enters the KNP .
(Undoubtedly the most entertaining film I have ever seen was filmed by her , it was about the life of baboons in the KNP . I recorded it off SABC TV in the early 90's on VHS tape, at some time I accidentally recorded another program over it :wall: :wall: ... :wall: :wall: ....the video is unobtainable commercially ...

:) It does not have to be Chip :) Until ndloti gives us one to ponder over....

Which camp do you think is being described here?

It is immediately apparent to any visitor that (this camp) is unique as brilliant red trees adorn the camp, pre-dating the decision to make exclusive use of indigenous plants in laying out rest camp gardens. Nostalgia prompted an exception to the rule for (this camp) and exotic flowering plants were allowed to stay, enhancing the strong sense of the past that is so pervasive.

I agree with Delene. You see beautiful scarlet-chested sunbirds in Pretoriuskop when the trees are flowering.

Which place is described here?
"It is my contention that no one has seen the "real" Kruger until they have visited ......... There is much to enjoy at ....... aside from game; the forest is magnificent with huge sausage, leadwood, and jackalberry trees lining the road. Birdlife is especially prolific, including Narina trogon, gorgeous bushshrike and trumpeter hornbill.
