:hmz: Too spesific.

OK, it is called the "white top" or rather Parthenium (Parthenium hysterophorus).

It is a weed with potential consequences for both humans and animals coming in to contact with it. Produces up to 10 000 seeds which can take up to 20 years to germinate. Spreading fast in the lowveld area.

First to post is IT.

Which year were white lions reintroduced back into the wild of Southern Africa?

I know they were observed in depth in 1975 in the Timbavati reserve by (I think his names Chris Mcbride), I know they removed two cubs to protect them and I think they both died but then in the 80's more cubs were spotted roaming wild in the Timbavati and I stand corrected but at last count there are 4 cubs (2 years and younger ) split between three prides that are wild and roaming the Timbavati as we speak ...

I think the first "reintroduction" of white lions was surprisingly recent. The WLT officially reintroduced them to T'vati in 2003 and there was another project in 2009.

White lions have been observed in the Timbavati/Tshokwane regions since the earliest days of Kruger; however, some were removed to zoos and some of the cubs born from the white recessive gene did not survive. As a result, there have been fluctuations in the numbers and sporadic sightings over the decades. The Seventies seems to have been good years for the.

However, the first official reintroductions to the Greater Timbavati Area has been, as Tom124 notes, very recent: 2003 and 2009.

Tom, IT.

Thanks OWN

Good question

Which animal's name stems from the Malay term that translates as "roller"?

Yep Radman! Pangolin is the correct answer - well done. Obviously named after its habit of defensively rolling into a ball

Radman - you're it!
